Cheadle Lake - Set up day and Mike

The next few posts are going to bring you all up to date on our weekend. We were able to attend Cheadle Lake Civil War Reenactment along with some wonderful friends! The Fairchilds were together once again! That's all I'll say on that point!

~*~*~*~*~

Thursday evening we were delighted to have our friend, Michael J from California, come for a visit! He got in late but we had to stay up still later and talk for a while. He truly is a character and made us laugh so much! He is working at a cattle ranch doing just what you picture cowboys doing and he very much looks the part!

Since Cheadle Lake is just 15 minutes from our home we were able to go Thursday night to set up the wall tents in the cool of the evening. It was 85 degrees that day and we knew Friday was going to be even hotter, and it was. It was 95 degrees on Friday and incredibly humid, breaking records. The C family came in early afternoon and the guys were able to help them set up their tents. Boy, is that ever hot work. It was well past dark before we began to cool off.

After we were finished setting up the guys got out the stilts for "stilt wars".

Go Taylor!

Michael fell!

David's turn now.

Shake before the fight!

On Friday there was a school day. It's when the kids from the schools walk through the growing camps and watch demonstrations. The stilts were a huge amusement for them. This picture shows them coming in a group to give them a try!

Trying to cool off in the evening! We counted 80 toes in a tub of water at one time! It sure does feel delightful to put your burning hot feet into the freezing water! Awwwww!

Ahhh! Stilt wars and toes in water baths just bring back so many good memories! I'm sure you made plenty of wonderful ones this past weekend!
