Cheadle Lake - Day 2

David and Josh around the campfire. It was the only time that we felt like sitting next to the fire!

For all you Fairchild Family Fans!

Confederates in the distance.

Our "boys"

Michael wounded and being helped by a fellow soldier.

Oh no! David was shot too! It's amazing that it really could have been my brother laying there if he had lived during the 1860's.

They're coming! Michael is second from the left Taylor is fourth.

Michael, David and Josh. Ummm, David looks a little...little short! What happened!

A man just lost his brother.

Rally round the flag boys!

"My Josh" as Lydia calls him!

Taps. Talk about getting goose bumps! Listening to taps played and looking at a field of dead soldiers and other soldiers with their heads bared really is most touching. It's hard to keep back the tears.

More soldiers mourning the loss of their friends.

Believe it or not, when you're a reenactor you learn to do things you never thought possible, like sleeping during a battle!

You all look so warm! I'm sorry it was so hot for you all, but I'm glad you still had lots of fun!! I know Mike did!

Thanks for sharing the photos! How fun! We'll have to come see you all reenact sometime this year. I can really feel for you in that heat! We had a performance Friday night in a theatre with no air-conditioning. It was challenging to say the least. I suppose Civil War families camping out couldn't have the luxury of ice cream?
Blessings,
