Christmas Decorations in the making

Almost every Christmas our family likes to make these lovely festive jars with floating candles to give the house a cheery look. They are an easy decoration and can look great in a table center-piece or just about anywhere! This year I took step-by-step pictures so you all can give them a try!

First you need fresh cranberries, evergreen branches, water, jars, and Grapefruit Seed extract for preservation (optional), a pair of scissors and some floating candles for as many jars as you like.

Place cranberries on a tray and remove bad berries.

Then rinse.

I add Grapefruit Seed extract to help the cranberries not go bad so quickly.

Fill the jars about 1/3 of the way with Cranberries.

Cut parts of the evergreen branches and put on top of berries. Be sure there is still empty head room at the top so the candle will float.

Cover berries and evergreen with the water/Grapefruit Seed extract mixture.

Lydia is making her own!

Place candle on top

Ta-DA!

Then light it...

...and enjoy!

Note: I keep them in the fridge when not using them since keeping them cold will make them last longer. Sometimes we've left them out all the time and they get murky water and we have to make them over again. The fridge and the Grapefruit Seed extract really helps them last longer. Beautiful!
