Apple Pie Day at the Capitol!

Every two years during legislation session we are able to have a Homeschool day at the Capitol where we deliver a homemade apple pie to each legislator and their staff. We always look forward to Apple Pie Day as it is a great time to see friends and make new ones! There were about 800-1000 people who attended this year! Here are some pictures from Apple Pie Day 2009

This is the hospitality room where food and drinks are served to those coming for the day. It's wonderful to be able to chat and catch up with friends.

Mrs. L was in charge of the food table and Keslie helped all day. They did a wonderful job!

Dad and Mom were in charge of setting up the tours of the Capitol and the Supreme Court Building for the day. Mom had almost 200 emails to answer! Dad handled most of the business of gathering people into the proper groups on the day of, great job Mom and Dad!

The boys practising for the color guard.

The rally on the Capitol steps started out with lovely weather. There is a Homeschool band that played some lovely songs and also a state wide choir.

Some of the crowd, just on the upper section.

Here is a picture of the choir from the side.

See those ominous clouds? We will hear from them soon! Yikes!

The color guard did a great job!

Mr. H, a friend of ours led the choir.

Then it began to P.O.U.R.

Up popped umbrella's, out came the coats, some ran for the building and still others braved the down pour with water streaming down their faces! As you can see by the empty seats, part of the band ran indoors to protect their instruments!

Mrs. K braved the weather even with her camera! She is quite the homeschool leader HERO!!!

Then as quickly as it started, it stopped, the sun came out and dried most of us off! It was amazing how quickly it went from pouring rain and dark clouds to sunshine and fluffy clouds!

Mr. P (in the red tie), and his son, and Mr. and Mrs. B, are on the homeschool board here in our state. The B family did a great job putting this whole event together! Thank you for you dedication and hard work!!

T.J. Schmidt came to speak for us all the way from VA! He is a lawyer for HSLDA.

Well, I hope you all enjoyed this post! Thanks for stopping by!
