...ago today that my grandma died. Here are some lovely pictures our friend Paul took for us of the funeral and the rest of the day. He graciously spent the day taking pictures and video, compiling a DVD that has the service and the slideshow Keslie put together of grandma's life. Their brother, Kirby, is looking on.
Mom and her sister Kim, looking at the program we made for the service.
Our precious Molly at her great-grandmother's funeral.
Just before our friends began to arrive.
Our dear friends showered us with hugs all day! What a blessing to be with God's people during this time of grief and sorrow.
Grandpa hugging our dear hospice nurse, Gemma!
Grandpa hugging grandma's dear friend Donna from Jr. High school! They've kept in touch all these years.
This is Phyllis, and like Donna, she was a dear friend of Grandma's all these years from Jr. High school. There was a group of 5 girls who were very close and kept in touch all this time. It was a joy to meet them!
Auntie Kim talking with Donna and Phyllis.
Our friend Holly played beautiful music for the service.
The C ladies came over 4 hours for the service after just getting home from a 3 week trip! We were so overwhelmed and thankful to have them with us! Sweet friends.
Singing! Grandma LOVED to sing!
My dad did an amazing job officiating the service. It was so heart felt and he was able to preach the gospel knowing Grandma would have agreed 100%!
Grandpa surprised us all by getting up to talk. He had us all in tears and was so eloquent and dignified as he talked about his wife and what a special woman she was not only to him but the the thousands of people she touched. Poor Heather was supposed to sing right after grandpa spoke so she quickly had to collect herself and sing a lovely song.
Our Uncle Keith and Grandpa.
Such a beautiful day.
Grandma's sons, son-in-law, and 5 grandsons carried her to her final resting place in a cemetery only a few miles from us.
I love how Uncle Kirby has his hand resting on the casket! How precious!
The rain held back until we were finished with the grave side! Thank you Lord! My uncle Steve officiated.
This picture is just packed with emotion! I love the looks on all the people pictured, in fact they are all my grandma's grandchildren or great-grandchild.
Aw! My poor grandpa watching his wife being buried, it's so hard.
Our long time friend, Mrs. Anderson, handed each of the family members a rose from our home to put on the casket. Grandma loved the color red so these red roses would have made her really happy! Grandpa put the first rose on.
My Auntie Kim and her son Brian in the background.
My turn.
Even the great-grandchildren had a rose to put on.
Little Micah is another of her great-grandchildren.
This picture tears me up. It was so precious to see these grown men missing their grandma so much that they are driven to tears. Real men cry! My brothers are such precious men that they are not afraid to show how much they love their grandma. Taylor was the last one that Grandma smiled for just a few days before she died, she adored him.
Little Emma
Each flower represents a person who happily called her wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother or great-grandmother. Look at all those flowers!
More hugs! This is my dad's mom and our last grandma. We're were so glad she was able to be with us that day.
I forgot to mention that Donna and Phyllis were also bridesmaids in my grandparents wedding, precious ladies!
Sweet Natalie!
When we got home we were greeted with our island full of the most lovely and yummiest food ever. We had a wonderful group of dear ladies who worked so hard to prepare and present all the food. It was such a joy and comfort to have everything taken care of since the ladies replenished everything all afternoon, food and drinks alike. Suzy, Elayne and Anna, you're amazing!!!
Most of the people from the funeral came over to our house for a meal and the fellowship was so special.
My lovely parents.
My grandma's hospice nurse and her fiance (now her husband) came for the funeral and meal. It was so special to have them here.
Dear friends!
Here is the slideshow Keslie made of pictures taken through out grandma's life:
